Victims aunt claims police shot her niece

Jazmine Ozuna was shot and killed Thursday night by Moody High School and police are searching for the shooter.

On Thursday, August 15, 2019 around 9:30 pm Jasmine Ozuna and her cousin Desiree were in the Moody High School neighborhood dropping off a friend. After dropping off the friend, Jasmine Ozuna and her cousin were driving west towards Greenwood Drive. According to Jasmine’s aunt, Gina Ozuna, the two women were pulled over by the Corpus Christi Police Department. Jasmine Ozuna had pulled the vehicle over and threw out a back pack that contained a small amount of marijuana.

It was at that point when shots were fired into the vehicle striking Jasmine Ozuna in the back. The vehicle stopped near Misty Street and Trojan Drive. The passenger, Desiree Rodarte, began to panic and noticed that Jasmine was complaining of pain where she was then told to get off the cell phone and get on the ground by police.

Jazmine Ozuna was rushed to Spohn Shoreline where she succumbed to her injuries. She had just turned 21 years of age and was going to celebrate her birthday this weekend.

The family will have a funeral expense benefit Saturday, August 24th at Chatz Bar located at 721 Airline Road starting at 11am til sold out.

Corpus Christi News Now reached out to Jazmine Ozuna’s cousin Desiree Rodarte for comment about the situation and she refused to comment. This is a developing story and we encourage you to check back for updates.
