San Patricio County Commissioner speaks out against annex after city approves

San Patricio County Commissioner Gary Moore Sr. was at City Hall advocating against the possible annexation of 2,700 acres between Gregory/Portland. Here is what he had to say.

The City of Corpus Christi is exercising their right to possibly annex the La Quinta Corridor that consists of 2,700 acres of land located in the Gregory/Portland area. The area is also located in San Patricio County that runs adjacent to Nueces County.

Gary Moore Sr, the San Patricio County Commissioner for District 2 came to City Hall to advocate against the annex. Gary Moore feels that the annexation is due to the staff mismanagement of the City of Corpus Christi and it’s overreach to tax the proposed project of Exxon-Sabic plastic plant.

The Corpus Christi City Council spent the majority of Tuesday’s city council meeting balancing the pros and cons of the annexation. The annexation was later approved by the majority of the city council with disapproval from one council member, Michael Hunter. Mayor Joe McComb later stated that the San Patricio County would be able to collect some taxes. Public officials of San Patricio stated that the city council looks like the “Mafia, the Gambini’s, pr the other mafias of New York City and Chicago, This is not that area and I hope you re-consider”.
