Joe Ortiz sworn in as National Civil Rights Director

Joe Ortiz is sworn in as National Civil Rights Director for Corpus Christi Coffee Club on Saturday, April, 6, 2019 at the Ayers Event Center.

Former National Director for Civil Rights of the American GI Forum, Joe Ortiz is sworn in as National Civil Rights Director for the Corpus Christi Coffee Club on April 6, 2019 at the Ayers Event Center. The Corpus Christi Coffee Club president, Ray Madrigal, says they hope to have a progressive year with Joe Ortiz becoming the newest member to the organization.

Joe Ortiz served as National Director of Civil Rights for ten years with American GI Forum. He has fought numerous federal and state cases. Ortiz states “this is not my first rodeo and we have won”. “LULAC has fallen behind in protecting civil rights and so has the GI Forum”.

Robert Hernandez, a member of the Corpus Christi Coffee Club says “I think we need a person like Joe Ortiz to come in and motivate our people and politicians to do the right thing for our working class people”.
